Genetic Resources

Written by Super User on . Posted in The Programs

ABCIC advocates for, promotes and enhances a complementary approach comprising in situ/on-farm and ex situ/ off-farm conservation of agrobiodiversity and plant genetic resources by farming communities and specialized institutions such as National Plant Genetic Resources Centres and gene banks. Unlocking the potential of germplasm is the key to crop improvement and ABCIC therefore promotes value addition and utilization of genetic resources through characterization and evaluation of germplasm, understanding patterns of inter-and intra-specific diversity, documentation of germplasm and enhancing interactions between breeders and germplasm conservation workers.
